Media Grants Programs
Through our own environmental campaigns, we have witnessed the power of film to transform audiences into activists. To support grassroots groups that also use film as a form of activism, we created a Media Grants Program. This program specifically funds environmental nonprofits that use media, mostly film, as a tool tightly linked to direct-action campaigns. To evaluate grant proposals, we have a grants council made up of employees with strong backgrounds in film and other media.
We look for groups using media as a strategic tool to advance a campaign that is in line with our general grants program. The project must outline how using media is the most appropriate avenue as a call to action for a targeted audience and how it fits into the overall strategy of the campaign efforts.
Through our Media Grants Program, we fund work that:
- is tied to an environmental campaign
- goes beyond education and awareness building of the general public
- is designed with a call to action for a targeted audience
- is a tool to accomplish goals within a specific environmental campaign strategy
The funding range for a Media Grant is typically between $15,000 and $30,000, depending on the specific needs of the project.
